It is with great joy that I tell of the wonderful blessings...
It is with great joy that I tell of the wonderful blessings which have come to us through the study and application of the truths taught in Christian Science. A little over a year ago I was healed of chronic bowel trouble from which I had suffered over six years. A short time later I was healed of a mild case of tubercular disease of two years' standing, also of abscesses. My mother was overcome by heart and was apparently on the verge of passing on, when she was healed through absent treatment and the verge of passing on, when she was healed through absent treatment and the reading of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," the Christian Science textbook, written by Mrs. Eddy. She was able to sew and do all her housework on the fourth day. My husband was suffering from blood poisoning of the leg, was not able to get out of bed, and seemed to grow worse each day, as error suggested looking at the limb to see if there was any improvement. After the fourth day, when the condition seemed very alarming, I called the practitioner, who lovingly rebuked us and told us to read page 395 of Science and Health, where Mrs. Eddy says, "It is mental quackery to make disease a reality—to hold it as something seen and felt—and then to attempt its cure through Mind." With the realization of the truth brought to us from this statement and other passages the condition was overcome. The following morning my husband was able to get up without experiencing the slightest sense of pain, and he went to work that day.
We have had many other demonstrations of the power of Truth, among them my son's healing of acute lung trouble. An abscess of the throat also yielded to the truth, and I have been able to overcome self-pride and unkind criticism. For these many blessings and the privilege of having the authorized literature I am very grateful. My daily prayer is to have an understanding heart and to apply Christian Science as we are taught in our textbook and the other writings of Mrs. Eddy, thus living Christian Science, not talking it only. I am thankful to God, who I know is ever present and all-powerful, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy, our beloved Leader.
