I should like to express my gratitude for a healing in...

I should like to express my gratitude for a healing in Christian Science. One morning I was suddenly attacked with what is termed ptomaine poisoning. As I had just become interested in Christian Science, a practitioner was called, but I kept holding the thought that I must have a doctor as the pain seemed so severe. Fear crept in and a doctor was summoned, so the practitioner lovingly said good-by.

The doctor called a nurse and for forty-eight hours they both did all they could to relieve me, but I had grown much worse. Then I faintly heard the doctor say to my husband that if I had any matters to attend to or anything to say to the children it had better be done, for he had tried everything that he could, and I was passing on. I do not recall just how it happened, but I was able to have the same faithful practitioner who had been with me previously. She brought with her a Christian Science nurse, who after coming into the room leaned over the bed and sang softly the first verses of the hymn, "Shepherd, show me how to go" (Hymnal, p. 188). It was the first time that I had ever heard it, and the thought so beautifully expressed by Mrs. Eddy brought its healing power, and I was able to turn completely to God. The awakening was beautiful, and although it took much loving help to realize the healing, the days were filled with progress. The neighbors who had expected me to die, wondered at the healing.

Since then we have had many blessings in Christian Science. I am especially grateful for the help it has been toward overcoming fear and impatience. It is indeed a great blessing to be a Christian Scientist, and I sincerely desire to become wholly worthy of the name.
