I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing
I did not come into Christian Science for physical healing. Previous to the time that this teaching was brought under my notice, a loved wife had just passed on; and I rejected it, as I had the opinion that no one could tell me anything new about God or the Bible. I had always been a consistent church member, and all the time of my trial referred to, my faith in God never wavered, but a study of Christian Science showed me that my faith in God was a blind belief without knowledge and understanding. It became clear to me then, as the truth of Mrs. Eddy's teaching was grasped, that I needed mental healing and needed it very much, for I had allowed the temple of my consciousness to become a veritable den of thieves.
Christian Science taught me that the mortal concept of man which I had entertained, was an illusion; that the real man is spiritual, made in the image and likeness of God. With this understanding of the truth of being there came a complete transformation in my mentality, and I verified in my experience these words of Paul: "Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." With the overcoming of sense testimony I enjoyed greater mental and physical freedom, thus entering into my God-given heritage of dominion. I am better now physically, morally, mentally, and above all spiritually, that I have ever been, and I look forward to still greater results as I attain unto the Mind "which was also in Christ Jesus." I have found that spiritual health means physical health; they cannot be separated.
I wish to express my deep gratitude for the understanding of God that has come into my life through the study of Christian Science, and for an understanding of our Father which I did not think it possible for man to gain. I am also grateful to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for that marvelous book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and for all the rest of our literature, which when carefully read and studied will carry streams of living water into our thirsty souls, irrigating every channel of our consciousness. The Monitor is a source of education and information.
