The quotation, "Freely ye have received, freely give,"...
The quotation, "Freely ye have received, freely give," comes to me often in reference to the testimonies given at the Wednesday evening meetings and those published in our periodicals. Every student of Christian Science has received freely of the blessings which God has provided for His children, and it surely behooves us to give thanks through the channels so lovingly and wisely provided by our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy. Since I became a student of Christian Science, God has been our only physician and He has never failed to meet our every need. I took up the study about six years ago, because I found Christian Scientists to be such happy, wholesome people. I have had physical healings all along the way in my journey from sense to Soul, but the healing for which I now desire to express my grateful appreciation is the overcoming of the fear of lack.
Before I knew anything of this practical religion, we left our home in the East and went to the far West on a business proposition which did not turn out as we expected. This was a great trial to me because I had always planned for our material needs months in advance, and owing to uncertain business conditions this was no longer possible. During this trying time my husband and I commenced the study of Christian Science. It seemed as if every material prop was knocked from under us, but the trials turned me from a material sense of supply to the spiritual source of all true blessedness. During the months of seeming lack we adhered faithfully to our study of the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's works, together with the literature sent out by our Publishing Society, and Love met each need as it presented itself, sometimes in most unexpected ways. The article entitled "Angels," beginning on page 306 of "Miscellaneous Writings," was a great help to me while solving this problem. It is with the deepest sense of gratitude that I now say I have learned to follow our Leader's counsel as found in the article mentioned, "Never ask for to-morrow: it is enough that divine Love is an ever-present help; and if you wait, never doubting, you will have all you need every moment." My blessings are increasing each day as I work in God's vineyard.
Words cannot express my grateful appreciation for membership in The Mother Church and a branch church, also for class instruction.
