Among the Churches

Current Notes

Northumberland, England .—The year ending October 31, 1917, has been one of greater activity in our work. It is satisfactory to note an increased demand for Christian Science literature, a larger attendance at the public services, notably of men, and much good healing work done. The lecture reports in the press have been good, but not lengthy, and the newspaperr editors appreciate the Monitor, which is sent to them regularly.

The literature distributed from this office shows a considerable increase, and is as follows: 55 Sentinels, 21 Journals, 710 Monitors, 65 pamphlets, 355 leaflets, 275 newspapers containing reports of lectures and corrections.

The distribution work done by First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Newcastle and the Whitley Bay Society is as follows: 2079 Sentinels, 299 Journals, 13,830 Monitors, 1 Science and Health, and 6 pamphlets—a total of 16,215 pieces. In addition to these figures special committees have distributed to soldiers' camps, billets, and hospitals the following literature, supplied free by the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy: 1719 Sentinels, 232 Journals, 20,485 Monitors, 763 pamphlets—a total of 23,199 pieces.
