In September, 1915, I persuaded my husband to get me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I had been a church member for twenty-five years, and the last five years the Bible seemed more and more uninteresting. Beginning to feel alarmed about my spiritual condition, I decided to study Science and Health on account of that part of the title, "Key to the Scriptures." After reading the book partly through,—which I did very thoroughly, not finishing it until February,—I found that my religious views were greatly changed. I also discovered that I had been healed of a growth as large as a walnut in front of my ear, supposed to be caused by a diseased tooth. During these five months I did hardly anything but go to the dentist for treatment after this tooth had been extracted and a bridge prepared. As I had heart trouble, only a little work could be done at a time. When the dentist noticed that the lump was disappearing, he remarked that he could not understand it, as he had expected to have to treat it for two years (which treatments were very painful) and then if it had not gone down, he would have had to operate.

The first week in January the bridge work was done, but ten days after the work was finished, such intense pain was experienced that I was nearly out of my head. Finally my husband telephoned to the dentist saying that something would have to be done, but his verdict was so appalling that I asked my husband if I could have Christian Science treatment. He immediately called up a practitioner and treatment was given at once, with the result that I was immediately relieved. The following night the pain returned slightly while I was eating dinner. The soreness lasted for several months, then it was gone and has never returned. My husband and daughter took up the study of Christian Science after seeing this wonderful demonstration.

I have also been cured of an organic trouble supposed to be incurable, and of heart disease said to be inherited, having only one treatment for each. My daughter went through the entire freshman year of high school without being absent and with very high marks in her studies. We were very thankful for this, as her years in the grammar school had been a succession of illnesses, with the consequent falling behind in her classes. She personally has demonstrated over the effects of poisoning two summers in succession. The second time it was manifested on both arms to her shoulders, and in twenty-four hours she came to me entirely free, having worked out her problem alone while we were on a short motor trip.
