I want to express my gratitude for what Christian Science...
I want to express my gratitude for what Christian Science has done for me. I had suffered for years from what the doctors called an internal growth. They said that if I wished ever to be well I would have to undergo an operation, and advised me to have this done before leaving the East, saying the doctor here would not understand my case. Friends in the East had told me of Christian Science, but I apparently was not ready for it.
Soon after this we moved to Los Angeles and were just nicely settled in a new home when my condition became worse than ever. We called in a doctor, who after several weeks told my husband that an operation was necessary. We were about ready to consent to this when Christian Science was again brought to my notice, this time by a neighbor, who said she knew it would heal me. When my husband came home I told him what this lady had said, and he was willing for me to try Christian Science, so immediately called up the doctor and told him of our intention. The doctor agreed that Christian Science might be all right for nervousness or bad temper, but declared it would do no good in my case. He was, however, told not to call any more, and a practitioner was asked to treat me. Absent treatments were given, with complete healing as a result, although it was not fully realized until four days later. I got up and was about the house, and did not see the practitioner until several weeks later, when I met her at a lecture.
This healing took place over four years ago, and I have enjoyed perfect health ever since. I have had many other proofs of the allness of God without calling for the help of a practitioner. I had read the Bible through four times, but got little benefit from it until I began to study it in connection with Science and Health. The Bible has now become a "tree of life" to me, and I find peace and happiness in its pages. I am truly thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for some understanding of the truth, which Jesus said would make us free. I am grateful, too, for all the authorized literature and lectures, besides our Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings, which are enlightening the world and bringing mankind out of sin and suffering.
