McGregor, Iowa.—On Sunday morning [Feb. 3] First Church of Christ, Scientist, was dedicated. In May, 1892, eighteen people met and organized a Christian Science church. Meetings were held at the homes of the members until steadily increasing numbers made it necessary to secure permanent quarters. The G. A. R. Hall was rented, and for four years services were conducted there. In 1897 a large upper room in the Barron Block was rented and suitably furnished. The ensuing years witnessed a slow but continuous growth in members until 1914, when upon several Sundays every chair was filled. A building fund was started in October, 1915. In April; 1916, a lot on Main Street was presented to the church for a building site, an architect was consulted, and plans for a church edifice were submitted. The plan of the building as it stands was approved in December, 1916, and in April, 1917, ground was broken for a foundation.—North Iowa Times.
