The Lectures
NEW YORK, N. Y. (Fifth Church).—John Sidney Braithwaite, lecturer; introduced by Guy Parkhurst Estes, who said in part:—
The world to-day is in the midst of a great seething chemicalization. Right and wrong, truth and error, are demanding the attention of universal humanity. The world is fast ceasing to be "my country and thine," and internationalism is coming to the fore, a brotherhood of all mankind, bearing out the prophecy of the Scriptures, "There shall be one fold, and one shepherd." The thought of God as the divine Principle of the universe is gaining a new attention. Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, writes in her book, "No and Yes" (p. 20): "When the term divine Principle is used to signify Deity it may seem distant or cold, until better apprehended. This Principle is Mind, substance, Life, Truth, Love. When understood, Principle is found to be the only term that fully conveys the ideas of God,—one Mind, a perfect man, and divine Science. As the divine Principle is comprehended, God's omnipotence and omnipresence will dawn on mortals." This dawn is coming upon the world to-day through Christian Science, whose keynote is love,—"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself." Mrs. Eddy has encircled the world with the teaching of this love and brotherhood of man through the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and other instrumentalities, among them the international newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, which is welding all nations together by giving them an understanding of what Truth and Principle really are. She also instituted The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, the members of which speak with authority on the greatest subject of the world to-day, the Science of Christianity, which, when understood, gives health, harmony, and universal peace to mankind.
BOSTON, U.S.A. (Society, Simmons College).—Paul Stark Seeley, lecturer; introduced by Miss Edith Swift, who said in part:—
