Although young in Christian Science, I cannot refrain...
Although young in Christian Science, I cannot refrain from testifying to the many benefits received during my short study of the subject, with the hope that my experience may awaken some other afflicted and doubting mortal to the truth, and to the blessings to be had through even a meager understanding of this teaching. I was never a religious man, although firmly convinced that God possessed unlimited power. As a boy I attended Sunday school and church, but for several reasons was not interested. From a superficial investigation of various denominations, I decided that their teachings were merely beliefs, and it seemed to me I could be as good out of the church as in it, if I followed my highest inclinations and obeyed the Ten Commandments as best I could. As a result I remained away from all religious meetings (with few exceptions) for twenty or twenty-five years.
For many years I suffered from stomach disorder, bowel trouble, and extreme nervousness. As material remedies gave only temporary relief, and each recurring attack seemed to increase in severity and duration, I finally became discouraged and inquired about Christian Science. The results of my call on a practitioner for help were astonishing, and this demonstration, together with the study of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, proved that it is futile to dose with drugs and that God is indeed a very present help, for I was healed of the stomach and bowel troubles in two or three treatments, and the so-called nervousness has entirely disappeared. My business is now more pleasing and prosperous, and each day I am increasingly grateful for even the limited understanding I have of this wonderful truth which makes free.
I feel that Christian Science has measured up to my ideas of religion, exclusive of the fact that it is demonstrable, as absolutely proven in my case. On one or two occasions I have had a slight attack of stomach trouble, but each time it has been quickly overcome by a change of mental condition. All my other healings have been complete. Medicines have become a past experience with me, and I never think of such a thing as even considering them, as it has been proven to me they are useless, since Mind is all. I am more than thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for all these demonstrations of the power of Truth to heal the sick in any age.—John B. Morris, Cincinnati, Ohio.
