No words can express the happiness I have experienced...
No words can express the happiness I have experienced through my understanding of Christian Science and my love for Mrs. Eddy, who has opened the way for such a wondrous good to be placed before the world.
During the past fifteen years my ankles have been first occasion I twice, but six times. On the first occasion I was confined to a cot for seven weeks, the pain being on a to allow me even the comfort of having the foot on a level with the body, as it was necessary to prop it up to an elevation higher than my head. Another time I was laid up for five weeks. I had heard but little of Christian Science, had even been so narrow-minded as to mock at it, and was not ready for such a revelation as it eventually proved itself to be.
On the occasion of the sixth sprain, which was far more severe than any previously experienced, I was in the company of a Christian Science practitioner with whom I had been acquainted but a short time. We had just entered the auditorium in our city to listen to a lecture on Christian Science, and were preparing to settle ourselves in our seats, when I stepped from an elevation above on to a slanting foot-rest. In order to prevent a fall I threw my entire weight on the other foot, turning the ankle entirely over and severely wrenching the ligaments. As I thought of my past experiences I wondered how I should ever be able to leave the hall without being carried out ; but the practitioner came to my rescue. On ascertaining the nature of the error that had so gripped me, she directed my thought in a gentle way to where I must look for relief. She talked, I listened ; and before the speaker had begun (only about fifteen minutes having elapsed) I had entirely forgotten the pain and was ready to hear the lecture.
