When I was investigating Christian Science with the hope...
When I was investigating Christian Science with the hope that it might give me strength to care for a very sick child, my little girl, then five years old, was healed of tuberculosis, adenoids, enlarged tonsils, deafness, and sore eyes. Three physicians had declared that nothing could be done for her. She was unable to walk, and was dreadfully wasted. As she was an only child, I became a nervous wreck through anxiety, and I took up Christian Science to steady my nerves, not believing it was good for anything else. I however read Science and Health to her every evening.
One evening my daughter seemed very much worse and in great pain. I was unable to get the doctor, and when I told her this, she asked me to read Science and Health to her. I did so to satisfy her whim, as I thought at the time, but after I had read about twenty minutes she said she felt much better and asked me to read more, and I continued to do so for half an hour. She was up the next day, free from pain, and improved right along. In eight months she had gained in weight, and her hearing and sight are perfect. She goes to school, is out in all kinds of weather, and is perfectly well. She attends the Christian Science Sunday school, and is able to apply the truth to all little problems that come up in her class daily. She has to go ten blocks to school twice a day and return, but experiences no sense of fatigue. Last year, out of sixty children, forty-three were away from her class with the whooping-cough, and many wondered how she escaped.
Children are very receptive to the truth, and they understand and grasp more than adults give them credit for. I find it a wonderful help to go over the Lesson-Sermon daily with my little girl. For this healing I am most grateful, also for the knowledge of the truth, and that one does not have to be in Science years to gain a healing, as this experience came to us when I had been interested in Christian Science only three months. Since then many other blessings have been ours.
