A genuine Christian Scientist is striving constantly to follow...
The Columbia City (Ind.) Post
A genuine Christian Scientist is striving constantly to follow the commands of the Master to preach the gospel and to heal the sick,—both preach and heal. A Christian Scientist understands that he must humbly and meekly strive to 'live what he preaches, and that he must follow the great Teacher in a sincere effort to heal himself of everything that is ungod-like. Christ Jesus proved for himself first and then gave to the world the wonderful truism that we must first eliminate the beam from our own eye before we can see to remove the mote from our brother's eye, and Christian Science reiterates this teaching.
The self-satisfied Pharisees tried to belittle the works of the Master with the claim that he cast out devils through Beelzebub, the prince of devils. When a similar charge is brought against Christian Scientists, history but repeats itself, and we have the spectacle of those who regard themselves as orthodox reiterating what was said against Christ Jesus and against every follower who has attempted to obey his command to heal the sick. Christian Science, through the discovery and life-labors of Mrs. Eddy, has restored to Christianity the works that belong to it in the healing of every known disease, the alleviation of every form of suffering, and the destruction of discord and misery of every name and nature, by the understanding and application of spiritual law. In the words of the great Wayshower it asks, "For which of those works do ye stone me?"
The statement that Mrs. Eddy claimed to be the Christ would not be made by one who has sufficient understanding of Christian Science teaching to know what he is talking about.
