News and Globe-Star

Christian Science has spread rapidly during nearly half a century, and the last two or three years have witnessed its greatest growth. Surely Christian Science could not have attained its present position as a religion, in all parts of the world, unless it supplied a vital need of the people. Christian Science is not a mere theory or philosophy, but a demonstrable religion, healing sickness and sin, uplifting the sorrowing and broken-hearted, and reclaiming thousands from every form of evil to which mortals are subjected. If these good works are all "folderol," as our cirtic declares, then let us have more of it, for this is what Jesus promised would follow when his teaching was rightly understood and practised.

"By their fruits ye shall know them," the Master said, and this simple and practical test was the only one he mentioned as being of any particular value. The fruit that is good does not come from a corrupt tree; nor is it likely that many people, after having tasted good fruit, will ever leave it for the bad and support the tree that bears it. Any church which is fulfilling God's demands need never fear that the people will leave it for something not so good. Scoffing at another's religion is no part of the Christian Science propaganda, and it is to be hoped that other religionists may be equally forbearing.
