Among the Churches

Current Notes

KOKOMO, IND.—The vacant lot at the corner of Mulberry and Market Streets has been purchased for a building site by First Church of Christ, Scientist. The lot, a most desirable one, is 66 by 132 feet, and is centrally located in a fine residential district. The purchase price was fifty-five hundred dollars. Later it is planned to erect a church edifice on the lot.—Correspondence.

FLINT, MICH.—First Church of Christ, Scientist, has purchased a site on the corner of East Court and Harrison Streets for a new church home. The price paid is given out as seven thousand five hundred dollars. It is the plan to remain in the present quarters until next summer. The work of remodeling the house on the property will be started about May 1, and the building will be occupied as a place of worship as soon as the necessary alternations have been made. The crowding in the present quarters in the Ward Building made it plain that the church would soon need additional space.

When the Christian Science movement in this city was started, the meetings were held at the homes of the members, but the continued growth made it necessary to have more room. In 1911 the new auditorium in the Ward Building was occupied. It was equipped with about two hundred theater seats. Even this space proved to be too small, and after being used for only four years a new church is needed.
