A sense of deep gratitude impels me to testify to the wonderful benefit which I have experienced through Christian Science. It was in August, 1912, that I first turned to it for help and went to Dresden in order to look up a Christian Science practitioner. Most complicated and trying family problems had well-nigh made life unberable, and drove me in utter despair to seek refuge in Christian Science. The practitioner lovingly pointed out to me the cause of these entanglements and showed me how a person may be responsible for his or her failures by allowing error to be present in consciousness. I merely mentioned to her the many ailments which were besetting me, and dwelt chiefly upon difficulties of a personal nature for which a solution seemed imperative. Never before had I been led to seek the solution within my own thought and guided in the way to rid myself of the errors of which the untoward external conditions were a sequence. The conversation with the practitioner opened my eyes with regard to myself and made me realize the healing power of divine Love. As a result I immediately became aware of a transformation which was beginning to take place within me, and asked for assistance in order that I might be able to continue on this new road. Help was given with much love and patience, and I thereby experienced freedom from many physical ailments; in fact, the healing was instantaneous.

As a result of an apoplectic condition I had both a heart trouble and a nervous affection, and hypodermics were administered on various occasions. We consulted a number of physicians, among them very able specialists, but none of them succeeded in relieving me of my distress. I went through a terrible time and in despair turned away from God, my life thereby becoming still more miserable. Besides, I suffered dreadfully with neuralgia and sleeplessness. All these troubles disappeared through the explanation and declaration of truth in Christian Science, and I returned home that same day feeling like a new person and with overwhelming gratitude in my heart. I feel perfectly well now, thanks be to God, and am enjoying a sense of divine protection such as I have never known before. The recognition is present with me that God bestows upon His children health and good only, and since He is not the originator of disease, I do not need to be sick, provided I as a child of God keep His commandments and think right thoughts.

I would like to mention another instance of help received. My daughter was preparing for an entrance examination two years ago and thought that she would be unable to pass it, as she was said to have been backward in her studies and hence would fail to come up to the mark. I wrote immediately, telling her that her fears were without cause, as God would guide her thoughts as well as her work. I then asked the practitioner to help her in Christian Science, which was done, and my daughter passed her examination with high marks. A year afterward, in September, she expected to take her examination as a teacher of domestic economy, but seemed to struggle with various difficulties. In this case also Christian Science proved a help, and she made a good showing. I could tell of many instances in which God's presence has been made manifest to us. Christian Science has brought me a sense of contentment, and the realization that we cannot be separated from divine Love has proved a very potent help under the most difficult circumstances.
