I was first attracted to Christian Science through the healing...
I was first attracted to Christian Science through the healing of my sister, and was myself cured of many ills after the doctor said he would have to give up the case, as he had experimented with me as long as he dared. I was suffering from severe pains in my back and weakness of the eyes. I had a baby six weeks old, but had been unable to nurse it for some time. After having Christian Science treatment, however, I was healed of both my troubles, and the supply for the child returned also.
This was nearly nine years ago, and every year since then conditions have been growing brighter. Harmony and peace now reign in our home, whereas before there seemed to be discord and friction. Formerly my husband and I thought we could not possibly go through the summer without having one or two children down with a long spell of sickness, but I thank God that is all over now, for we knew that He does not send sickness to us, but is always present to help if we but call on Him. My husband also had numerous ailments, the worst of them being what is considered an incurable disease of the head, called catarrh of the third ear, which was affecting not only his hearing, but his mental condition as well. This trouble was overcome entirely through Christian Science treatment, and for this healing especially we are thankful to God.
Early in the spring of 1913, three of our children, as well as myself, had what was thought to be a bad cold, but which proved to be whooping-cough. We had very little trouble and were healed in a few treatments. Measles and a case of scarlet fever have been healed in from thirty-six to forty-eight hours, and many other kinds of sickness have been overcome. I am indeed thankful to God for the numberless blessings I have received, and grateful for Christian Science because I have grown to a better understanding of the Bible and of God's love for me. The rugged path has been made smooth, and when days seemed dark and dreary I turned to Him who says, "I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee."
