A sense of deep gratitude impels me to offer this testimony

A sense of deep gratitude impels me to offer this testimony. I first heard of Christian Science through my brother-in-law, who called on me in Dresden at Easter, 1914, coming from Teplitz. He told me of the work accomplished through Christian Science, the teachings of which had seemed incomprehensible to me up to that time. After having been repeatedly urged to attend a Christian Science service, my wife and I did so, and at once were inspired with love for and confidence in this teaching. I thought to myself that here was indeed found the truth which makes people happy and satisfies them by giving them an understanding. My family and myself have experienced many blessings since then; also in a business way, in the measure of our apprehension of divine Love as the creator and sustainer of man and his source of supply.

I would like to tell of a wonderful surprise which came to my son recently. He was totally blind in the right eye and half blind in the left. The physicians, after many consultations and much unsuccessful treating, gave him no hope of regaining his eyesight, and I had reached the point where I thought I would not continue to seek help for him. I could not consent to an operation, but when through Christian Science it became clear to me that there is help for all men, we talked matters over with a local Christian Science practitioner and asked her to take up treatment for the boy. After treatment had been given for several weeks, our son on Feb. 3 suddenly realized that he was able to see with the eye which formerly was blind. Filled with joy, he exclaimed at noontime: "Father, I can see with the right eye!" and proceeded to pick up the objects on the table, all of which were visible to him. This blessed experience made us all feel most happy, as it showed how our erroneous beliefs may be removed from consciousness, and gave us the assurance that God is good. I am most deeply grateful for this recognition, and feel greatly indebted to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy.
