The Lectures
At the Shrine Temple on Shawnee street, a large audience heard Virgil O. Strickler lecture on Christian Science. He was introduced by F. C. Runkle, first reader, who said in part:—
Today, as never before during the Christian era, Christianity meets with acceptance through its demonstrable quality. Christian Science asks to be judged only upon its demonstrable quality, the proof of Immanuel, or "God with us," dawning in the human consciousness, as witnessed by thousands of sufferers throughout the world. At its healing touch, bodies racked by pain and disease have been transformed into health ; care, sorrow, and sin have been banished, and man's birthright of dominion over the whole earth has been revealed. Thus it is that the Christ-idea, typified in the man Jesus by his wonderful works, — healing the sick, casting out evil, raising the dead, — and Christian Science as given to mankind by its Discoverer and Founder, Mrs. Eddy, coincide and illustrate the truth which Jesus promised we should know, and, knowing it, should be made free. This freedom awakens within the heart of every true Christian Scientist the yearning desire to share this truth with others.
