Study of Christian Science
ALL are as yet pupils in the study of Christian Science, having acquired a smaller or greater degree of understanding in proportion as they have put its teachings into practice by demonstrating the power of Spirit, as Jesus did, in healing sickness and sin. The understanding of Christian Science usually unfolds to the student gradually, as the carnal mentality, termed mortal mind, is put off and the Christ-mind is gained.
The statements of absolute truth may at first appear difficult to understand, but their spiritual discernment is gained as the truth is steadfastly held in thought and received in childlike trust, without question or doubt. Then, through this spiritual discernment the more simple problems will be solved. With their demonstration will come a more complete spiritual understanding of the deeper truths, and as our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," is more thoroughly studied, the larger problems will become less perplexing and will in turn be solved through higher understanding. Each victory gained will bring the courage of conviction and more absolute faith in God's healing and saving power.
Through the study of Christian Science, the Bible ceases to be to the student merely a literal statement. Instead, the thoughts and lessons contained therein become living messages from divine Love, uplifting and purifying human thought and aiding in the destruction of error. The study of Christian Science brings out the higher metaphysical meaning of the Scriptures, and thus aids the student in his effort to demonstrate control over material conditions through the power of God, divine Mind; and as he inclines his thought toward God and yearns for holiness, he finds his whole mentality becoming purer. The beautiful, unchanging, and spiritual will occupy his entire thought and become an actuality in his life; while the solution of all problems presented in daily experience will become clearer and easier as he gains the right mental attitude.
