It has been seven years since the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures"...
It has been seven years since the book "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, was placed in my hands and I was told to study it. This truth enlightens the mortal thought as the leaven permeates the meal, and by the time I had studied the chapter on Prayer, I was surprised to find I was healed of sleeplessness of nearly ten years' duration. Nervous exhaustion and goiter left me when I awakened to the fact that God is the life of man, and as His image and likeness man stands now and forever perfect.
The joy of perfect freedom from physical ills has been small compared to the joy in the knowledge that a loving Father created man and keeps him forever in His loving care. I know now that, even though I knew it not, He girded me, as the consciousness of God's presence has been my strength in hours when I was seemingly being overtaxed. No sense of weariness followed months of constant care and nights devoid of rest or sleep. Verily we may rest in Truth, and suffer no weariness from doing what it is our duty to do. That Christian Science heals instantaneously, and heals all forms of disease, I can gratefully testify. Organic heart trouble, so diagnosed by eminent medical doctors, was healed by studying and trying to apply the Christian Science rules as given us in our text-book. Influenza, appendicitis, and other seemingly serious conditions have been cured instantaneously by a realization of my true birthright as a child of God. I have never enjoyed such health and power of endurance as during the years I have been studying Christian Science literature.
I am most grateful to know we do not have to take any one's word that Christian Science heals, but all can prove it for themselves by honestly and humbly applying the rules given in Science and Health. For this saving truth I am most grateful. The sweet sense of joy and peace which comes from the knowledge of God as Love, cannot be taken from us. My prayer is that I may reflect more love, more of the divine nature so that I may be worthy to bear the name of Christian Scientist, and that I may hold to thirsty lips the cup of living water in Christ's name.
