Would that I could tell, in words that would adequately express our gratitude, of all the demonstrations which have been made in our family through the understanding of Christian Science. We first became interested in this teaching about seven years ago, through the healing of my sister. My husband then asked for treatment for his eyes, as he had been unable to get help from materia medica. One of our best oculists, who had been treating him, said he had only one third vision in one eye and two thirds in the other. He wore glasses constantly. In spite of the fact that he did not believe Christian Science could cure this trouble, which was of eighteen years' standing, he was entirely healed in three weeks, and has never worn glasses since.

Soon after this healing, one of the children had a skin disease in a most aggravated form. We had tried every kind of medicine recommended to us, with no effect; but this case was cured in less than three weeks through Christian Science. At thirteen years of age my eldest daughter had a most severe sickness. The limbs and feet were swollen, and the abdomen was bloated so terribly that she was unable to wear her clothes. She had every indication of going into a decline, but one week after Christian Science treatment was commenced she was normal in size, and in three weeks was perfectly well. This was a very critical case.

Our fourth child was born under Christian Science treatment. The birth was practically free from pain,—in fact it was the only normal birth I ever had,—and my hips, which had been misplaced since my first child was born, slipped back into place. The second and third births had been instrumental deliveries, and two physicians had told me I could never give birth to another child without the use of instruments. This last time my nurse, who had been in materia medica for over twenty years, and had had a experience in obstetrical cases before she took up Christian Science, said, "As I entered the room, I stopped in the door just long enough to thank God that I had lived to see the day that children could be born without suffering." I was up every day, and the tenth day walked over a mile to church, with no ill effects. This was six years ago. When this baby was a year old, she had a fever, and such a high temperature that she was delirious. Things looked very serious, but as soon as the practitioner came and began treatment, speaking "as one having authority," the child was healed.
