"And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall...
"And it shall come to pass in the day that the Lord shall give thee rest from thy sorrow, and from thy fear, and from the hard bondage wherein thou wast made to serve." This promise from Isaiah was fulfilled in my life through the understanding of Christian Science. I had passed through great sorrow and was sick mentally and physically, being weighed down by fear; but this Christ-teaching has set me free.
I came into Christian Science through the healing of my little girl, who from birth had been considered delicate. She had been suffering from abscesses of the ears for four months, during which she was under a physician's care. The pain at times was intense, and the ears were constantly discharging. She did not receive any relief from material remedies, and finally the physician said he thought the only thing to do was to operate; and as this operation is considered a dangerous one, I was beset with fear. But "man's extremity is God's opportunity," and I called a Christian Science practitioner, not because of any faith in Christian Science but because several of my relatives had been healed through this treatment and it pleased my mother. Several hours later the abscess broke on the outside, and that was the last of the pain. In two weeks the manifestations were all gone and every mortal law as to after effects was broken. Several years have passed and the child has never had any return of the trouble. She was also healed of a stubborn case of bowel disorder, supposedly inherited, and I am indeed thankful to God and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for her complete restoration to health. She has recently been healed of whooping-cough.
Although never considered strong, and suffering from a number of disorders, one of them being chronic bowel trouble, I too have been lifted from weakness to strength and health. Christian Science is teaching me the real source of supply and freeing me from fear of lack, though my husband has passed on, leaving me with two small children. There was left to me a western ranch, which it was said could not be sold for cash and which was not yielding an adequate income; besides I was not situated so that I could manage it. After the understanding of Christian Science began to unfold to me, I applied for treatment for this pressing need and speedily sold the ranch for cash at a considerable profit. For all this I am indeed grateful, but especially for the spiritual awakening which has come to me.
