After a long period of waiting I feel that I must testify to the blessings received through Christian Science. In 1908 I became afflicted with abdominal complaint in a very severe form, and upon the advice of a well-known physician for women's diseases submitted to an operation. I anticipated a favorable result and so had been looking forward with great expectations, but the outcome proved disappointing, for not long afterward the old condition set in and grew worse with every day, so that I was unable to walk about without assistance. I had to stay in bed almost constantly, and my relatives and myself believed that the end was near. In my great distress I asked my husband to call in our physician, but all the latter said was: "What do you want me for, my dear woman? There is nothing that I can do in a case like yours."

During these hours of despair a Christian Science practitioner came and talked to me, and she also brought me several copies of the Herold. Being incapable of doing any kind of work, I read them all day, and soon realized that I had found what I had been seeking. I have come to see that divine Love is an ever present help in time of trouble, and have had experiences to prove it. I saw that Truth is powerful above all else, and as I grew in the understanding of things spiritual I also realized that our "strength is made perfect in weakness." I began to clear my home of all the drugs which I had been using, with the clear recognition that they could afford me no help. After about two months' treatment in Christian Science I was able to attend to my various duties. About two and a half years ago I gave birth to a baby, and it is now a strong, healthy child. I enjoy good health, such as I hardly ever knew before in my life, and this beautiful experience of the efficacy of Christian Science induces me to write this testimony.

My daughter contracted blood-poisoning in her arm in 1913 through the sting of a fly, but the arm, which appeared to be swollen and discolored, presented a normal condition within a short time after I applied to a Christian Science practitioner. When my little boy was taken ill with measles and whooping-cough, Christian Science treatment was secured, with the result that the fever left him immediately, and three days later there was no trace of either measles or cough. My daughter, sixteen years old, became severely afflicted with rheumatism, all her joints being badly swollen; but after a short period of Christian Science treatment she was able to leave her bed, and is now in good health.
