When I was first led to Christian Science a few years ago,...
When I was first led to Christian Science a few years ago, I knew nothing about it, but felt if there was a true God I wanted to find Him. A friend loaned my wife some copies of the Sentinel and a Journal. We read these, and later got "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Before getting the text-book, however, I was entirely healed of a disability endured over twenty years. Physicians had said I could not be cured without an operation, and even then the relief might not be permanent. They also said that if the trouble returned it might be worse than ever. I therefore made up my mind to go through life a sufferer.
One day, shortly after I began the study of Christian Science, my condition was such that I could scarcely walk, when a neighbor asked me to go a couple of miles on horseback with him. It did not seem as if I could ride two miles to save my life, but my wife thought I could, so at last I saddled a mule and went. For a while it seemed impossible to go on, but finally I found myself riding along unconscious of any discomfort. The suffering was gone, not only for a short time but forever, and there has never been any return of the trouble.
My boy, when a little less than seven years old, was taken very ill. I telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, and after that he was not confined to his bed all the time. The attack was a most serious throat condition; but, bad as it seemed to be, we relied entirely on Christian Science, and my son was healed in less than a week. He has enjoyed good health ever since and has been a more loving and obedient child.
