It is with a grateful heart that I wish to tell of all the blessings that have come to me through Christian Science. I had been suffering for several years with very severe and often recurring cramps, which at times made life miserable and kept me from properly attending to my duties, which included indoor and field work. One morning, while getting up, I was seized with dreadful pain in the stomach, which lasted four days and four nights. The physician who was summoned, designated the trouble as a case of gall-stone. Although hypodermics were administered twice and I took medicine, the pain did not yield, and I grew weaker and more wretched, owing to my inability to retain nourishment, medicine, or drink. These attacks recurred every two weeks, and I could not recuperate in the intervals. I was expected to go to the hospital, upon the physician's advice, in order to be operated upon, as this was supposed to offer the only hope of being freed from the pain; but to this neither my parents nor myself could consent.
I had heard of Christian Science through relatives in Berlin, and I now decided to seek help from God. I asked a Christian Science practitioner for treatment, which was lovingly taken up. On the day on which my letter reached her, the pain grew less, my appetite returned, and with ten days' treatment I was completely freed from the disease and able to help my parents considerably in the work which now seemed mere play to me.
I am indeed very grateful to God, and also to all the dear people who have helped me on the way to Truth, and I cherish a sense of love and deep appreciation for our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, who has again pointed out this way to mankind.—Emilie Jürgens, Belling b. Pasewalk, Germany.
