It is eighteen years since I first learned of Christian Science. My wife at that time began to take treatment and was healed of many diseases. I was in good health then, save for an occasional attack of severe headache, to which I had been subject for years. I paid little attention to Christian Science, until one day when I had a bad headache. I suffered so that I could not sleep or rest, but my wife insisted that I lie down. I did so, and she began to treat me with what knowledge she had of Christian Science. In a short time I was sleeping soundly, and I am happy to say I have never had a return of the old complaint. About ten years later I was taken very suddenly with a serious case of appendicitis. Not knowing what was the trouble, in my fear I hastened to a physician about twenty miles from home. With my wife and daughter I was detained there in a hotel for twenty days and had several doctors examine me. Some told me one thing and some another, but they finally decided I had appendicitis and stomach disorder. They did all they could for me, but I continued to grow weaker.

Being about sixty years of age, I thought I could not last more than a few more days under the doctor's treatment, so I told him if he was going to do anything for me I wanted him to do it, and he said he was doing all he could for me. I then decided to turn to Christian Science for help, so I had my family take me home. After asking for Christian Science treatment, I began to get better, but the improvement was quite gradual, as I had become very ill and weak from taking so much medicine and from suffering. However, I was able to sit up in a month, and I kept on improving until, in about two or three months, I was well again. I did not take the interest in Science that I should have taken and I neglected to put into practice the little I knew, therefore error overcame me again about five years ago in the form of erysipelas. I had a very serious attack, but I applied for Christian Science treatment at once, and it was overcome in a week or ten days. Three years ago I had a second attack, which was also very serious indeed, but through Christian Science this was also soon overcome and destroyed, and I think for good, as I am in perfect health.

I am trying more and more every day to live and learn Christian Science. I enjoy reading the literature very much, and feel deeply thankful to God, and grateful to Mrs. Eddy for the revelation of Christian Science to this age.
