In the interest of suffering humanity I wish to tell others...
In the interest of suffering humanity I wish to tell others of Christian Science and its wonderful works, to show that "man's extremity is God's opportunity." Some four years ago I had been given a number of opportunities to abstain from the excessive use of strong drink, and although I had tried time and again to do right, the result was always the same. Having been given my last chance, and failing to grasp this opportunity, I was suspended from duty indefinitely. This would ultimately result in my discharge, leaving me physically unfit for work as a consequence, with a family depending on me for support. I was in utter despair, when I consented, upon appeal from my mother, to visit a Christian Science practitioner and submit myself to treatment. After receiving my first treatment I found I had no longer any desire for drink. I was healed instantaneously and decidedly; also, the way was opened for me to reach my employer, which was done satisfactorily, the result being that I was taken back. I soon regained his confidence, also a promotion, and have had three distinct increases in my salary since that time.
Words cannot express my gratitude for what Christian Science, through its great Leader, Mrs. Eddy, has done for me.—Charles L. Gilchrist, Brooklyn, N. Y.
