Christian Science has brought such an abundance of good...
Christian Science has brought such an abundance of good into my life that I feel I can never find words to express my thankfulness to God for leading me to this wonderful healing truth. When I think of the first visit of the Christian Science practitioner, and compare myself as I was then with my present self, I am filled with gratitude, for I have been changed from a nervous, despondent invalid to a useful, busy woman. Formerly the hours dragged by and the days seemed never-ending. I longed for night and sleep, for oblivion, in which to get a little peace. Now the days fly past, and my life is full of joy and work.
Christian Science has wrought this great change in me, banishing the belief of nerves, and also a continuous dread of sudden death, the result of severe fainting spells. So vivid was this dread that I always had a material remedy at my bedside, and during my periods of better health, when I was able to get about more, I would not willingly move from one room to another without this seeming restorative. I had various doctors and a specialist from London to see me during the five years I was ill, but although I appeared to benefit by their remedies at times, I soon lapsed into my old state, and remained in that condition until I received treatment in Christian Science. Even with the first visit of the practitioner I received help, and one serious ailments has never troubled me since. I was also able at once to dispense with the remedy I kept at hand, although I had not spoken about it to my practitioner. During the first week I destroyed the last bottle of medicine, and have not used drugs since that time. I eagerly took up the study of Christian Science, and although I seemingly caught only glimpses of its healing truth, I gradually but surely found myself improving in health and peace of mind.
To show how great is the power of divine Science, I will mention that a few weeks after coming into Science I was able to help my father in the bakehouse to get a good-sized batch of bread in the oven when he was left without help. This was wonderful for one who had spent the greater part of five years in bed, or at her best in easy chairs. Even after this experience many errors had to be turned out of mortal mind, but I received patient, loving help, and with Science and Health and the Christian Science literature my eyes are gradually seeing the nothingness of all discordant conditions.
