When I had suffered for weeks with attacks which nothing but an opiate seemed to relieve, and had been tortured with hot applications and baths, I begged my nurse not to give me any more, but she said she had to obey the doctor's instructions. I became so weak and suffered so intensely, the pain growing worse each day, that I welcomed the thought of death. Then came a consultation, which resulted in the verdict that I must go to the hospital at once for an operation to remove gall-stones. All preparations were made, even to the making of my will, for I had given up all hope of living through this ordeal.
I then telegraphed to my sons in the East, which delayed my going to the hospital for a few days. This was man's extremity and God's opportunity, for in my great distress I turned to Christian Science. The practitioner who was called, very kindly told me of the omnipotence and omnipresence, the allness of our Father-Mother God; that His child could not suffer, and that suffering was a mental condition. The next day brought great happiness. The doctor was discharged, also the nurse, and with the help received from my practitioner and the blessings realized from the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I was healed. I am thankful to God for giving to the world one who was able to prove again the saving grace of a life which is "hid with Christ in God."
Mrs. E. M. Hall, Glendale, Cal.
