I have much reason to be grateful for all the help received through the Christian Science literature, and it is with a sense of real happiness that I send a testimony to the Sentinel, for I always feel, and with increasing gratitude, that this periodical was the means of bringing me to Christian Science. At that time I knew nothing about this teaching, and being a church-member and very much taken up with church work, I seemed to have no desire for anything more. Hearing from a friend, however, that Christian Science was a healing religion, and that wonderful healing work was being accomplished through an understanding of its teachings, I felt a great longing to know something about it, and gladly accepted the Sentinel she gave me. I had not read two pages before I became absorbed in one of its articles, and while reading I felt an awakening to a sense of the nearness and goodness of God such as I had never experienced before, and for days I could think of little else. Very soon afterward an opportunity came for me to put into practice the little understanding I had gained.

A great trouble came to the family, and I was suddenly called from home to a house filled with sickness and sorrow, where the mother had passed on. The next day, I too was taken with the same disease, and for a short time was ill; but with the help of the Sentinel, and confidence in my newly found apprehension of the all-presence and power of divine Love, I felt no fear, and in a few hours was perfectly well. Then I felt grateful indeed that I had been led to Christian Science, and I soon began earnestly to study the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, finding that all I knew of good before was just intensified as I grew in understanding and learned more of the saving truths of Christian Science. This was about ten years ago, and I feel more and more what a privilege and joy it is to work for the cause and help others to realize the true happiness and peace which Christian Science gives. I am most grateful for a realization of this wonderful truth.

Once, after battling for some hours in the night with a return of an old complaint, I felt that I would have to send for help, when quickly the thought came, All I need is here, for God is "a very present help," and at once it seemed as if I could hear the beautiful words, "He shall give his angels charge over thee." All the suffering and pain ceased, and my consciousness was filled with that perfect peace "which passeth all understanding."
