About eighteen months ago I heard a lecture on Christian Science in Oklahoma City, and this was my first knowledge of this teaching. The lecturer made the statement that many people had been cured of physical diseases by reading Science and Health, and at that time this seemed to me a very absurd statement.
Soon after coming to St. Louis, however, I was loaned a copy of the text-book, and before I had finished reading it I was healed of stomach disorder and a severe case of bowel trouble. Since that time I have been cured of varicose veins. Three physicians had told me there was no help for me, except to wear an elastic stocking or a bandage. I was also cured of typhoid fever last January in less than forty hours, with no bad after effects except an abnormal appetite, which became normal in a few days. The practitioner I employed made but one visit. Through the understanding of Christian Science gained since that time, I have been able to overcome minor ailments by applying the truth. A chronic case of catarrhal trouble disappeared very quickly; also a case of ulcerated tooth was met and overcome with but little pain. For these and many other blessings I am indeed thankful, but the greatest blessing of all is the spiritual enlightenment gained by the study of the Bible and Science and Health.
I am happy to say that my healing by divine power has been permanent. My health was never better than at present, and the understanding of God's Word that I have gained, with the help of Science and Health, has enabled me to be of service to some of my friends, one case being the healing of a rupture. The more I study Science the more interested I am, and I desire to be worthy and able to demonstrate God's power through the truth as given to us by our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy. I am also thankful for the literature of the Publishing Society, which is doing such splendid work for humanity.—Henry R. White, Chicago, Ill.
