For several years I have desired to acknowledge through...
For several years I have desired to acknowledge through the Sentinel the benefit received through Christian Science, as this teaching has given me sufficient proof of the truth of God's creation. I had been a church-member for over fifty years; and while I loved my church, I realized that it was lacking in many things, one of which was the healing truth.
For eighteen years I was afflicted with rheumatism and could not walk without some material support. I also suffered regularly with bilious attacks and severe headache. All this, together with the sorrows I had passed through, made life seem hard; but God was with me all the way. I had just returned from a visit to my daughter in San Antonio, Texas, where I had been under medical treatment for what the doctors pronounced a malignant growth in the stomach, when a neighbor, a dear friend who had become interested in Christian Science, brought the glad tidings to me. I accepted this teaching with joy, since it was just what I had been waiting for, and as I was a Bible student, it was easy for me to see that it was the truth.
This was four years ago, and although my healing was not instantaneous by any means, I am gaining slowly but surely. All my diseases have been entirely healed except the rheumatism, and that is being overcome so fast that I do not have to use any material support, for I now realize the care of a loving Father and that He abundantly supplies everything needful. I feel that I have won back many years of my life since I have known of Christian Science. My health is excellent, although my hearing and memory are not so good. Being so far advanced in age (eighty-six years), I may not realize complete restoration at once, but I know that God can and will heal me if I continue to know the truth.
