The Rev. Mr. — is quoted in a recent issue as stating that "not until the church rejects the Bible will it have anything to do with Christian Science." This opinion is directly contrary to the conclusions of prominent members of his own church, who see that if Christianity is to be a paramount factor in the redemption of humanity, it must practically adopt the fundamental features of Christian Science.

It is well to remember that the truths of Christianity appeal to the individual. At the present time no one is much inclined to follow the lead of any ecclesiastic who is apparently more intent on defending his particular brand of theology than he is to know and prove the healing and redeeming potency of Christ's teachings. The religious leaders of Jesus' time refused to heed his teachings or to credit the confirmation of them by the healing of human ills, but the common people heard him gladly. In like manner, while some religious leaders continue their anathemas against Christian Science, many continue to come to it, seeking and finding healing of body and mind and the spiritual insight which comes from genuine knowledge of the Holy Scriptures.

For a number of years this clergyman has thundered against Christian Science. Has he succeeded in destroying its firm foundations? Not at all. I wonder if he has ever summed up what he has gained by his bitter attacks. Certainly he has done no apparent injury to Christian Science, which today is more prosperous and efficacious than ever before.
