Christian Science has been so much a part of my life for...
Christian Science has been so much a part of my life for the last five and a half years that I wonder how I ever existed without some knowledge of it. The blessings I have received from it are countless. This teaching was brought to my attention by a friend, who knew how much I needed it both morally and physically, just after I had undergone a very serious operation, and at a time when I realized that the continual use of drugs and stimulants for four years (to relieve pain) had become a habit which I seemed powerless to break. With Christian Science treatment, however, this habit was completely overcome, and any one who has suffered in this way will understand that for this alone I owe Christian Science my deepest gratitude.
Before coming into Science I had suffered very acutely from eye trouble, and about a year after hearing of this teaching I had such a severe attack that I lost my sight completely. The pain seemed very intense and tenacious, but the truth was stronger still, and I have waited until now to be able to testify that this truth, as taught in Christian Science, has healed me. I can now read, write, and sew with comfort, and I have no pain whatever. I have also been healed of a recurrence of the abnormal growths for which I had been operated on, and of many other physical troubles. But far above and beyond all physical healing I am grateful for the knowledge of God as Love, for the joy and peace and the broadened outlook on life it has given me. It has indeed brought me into "a large room." When Christian Science came to me, I was passing through a phase of great sorrow, and it seemed as though happiness had fled forever; but with even the small understanding of God that I have gained through this teaching, all that sense of sorrow has passed away, and my life is now full of contentment and love.
I thank God daily for our revered Leader's purity of vision, which enabled her to see the truth, and so to express and reflect it that eventually all the world must see.
