Statutes which are really designed to regulate the practice of medicine and surgery—which contain no curiously wrought definitions of this phrase, extending it beyond its ordinary and natural meaning—do not apply to the practice of Christian Science.

Perseverance

It often happens that one coming into Christian Science for physical healing firmly believes that it is the truth, knows that thousands have been healed through its teaching, and is convinced that it is the healing which Jesus practised; and yet to understand life spiritually and to reverse the testimony of the physical senses, seems to call for an effort which at times threatens to overwhelm him.

No habit is more easily acquired than that of speaking without knowledge respecting the character and purpose of others, and yet those who thus thoughtlessly contribute to the circulation of unloving and unfair if not slanderous comment, are guilty of an offense which receives quite as much attention at the hands of the Mosaic decalogue as does the crime of homicide.
