I have many times wished to write of my experience since...
I have many times wished to write of my experience since I came into Christian Science, and I can no longer refrain from expressing my gratitude for the blessings I have received through this teaching. I hope these few words will be useful to others who may be in need as I was, and that they may be led to the one true and living God and His Christ.
Before coming into Christian Science I had been under the care of one of the best physicians in this city for two years and had been in very poor health for about five, suffering day and night. After two years' treatment my physician told me he could do nothing unless I underwent an operation, to which my family objected very much. After this I tried another form of treatment which promised relief, but this also failed. I was very much discouraged and hardly knew where to turn. We had a niece in our home who was trying Christian Science for nervous trouble, and I noticed she was improving under the treatment, so one day I picked up the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," and began to read. I became so interested that I could hardly leave off, and the following day I looked up a practitioner and purchased a copy of the book.
After six weeks' treatment I seemed to be no better and became greatly discouraged, but at this time a friend who had had a wonderful healing called me up on the telephone, and when I told him I was discouraged, he said he knew Christian Science could and would heal me if I followed its teachings. I began at once to improve, and in about six months I was entirely relieved of the suffering. Eye trouble was the first to yield to treatment, and this healing proved to me beyond a doubt that Christian Science is the truth. I can honestly say I am stronger today than I have ever been in my life. The physical healing was truly wonderful, and it is much to be grateful for, but the spiritual light, joy, and peace which I experienced at the same time is beyond words to express. It has been eight years since this healing took place, and I have not had the slightest return of the old ailment. My prayer is that by more willing obedience to Truth each day, I may prove my thankfulness to God, the giver of every good and perfect gift, and my love for our Leader, who brought us this Science.
