I want to add my tribute to the power of Truth as revealed...

I want to add my tribute to the power of Truth as revealed in Christian Science. After a long period of invalidism of a most pronounced type, I have once more been placed upon my feet, a strong man, able to meet the duties of every-day life, when for years neither myself, the members of my family, nor any physician thought there was anything in store for me but the grave.

In December, 1910, after having been sick for about seven years, during which time I had walked with crutches, when I was able to walk at all, and after I had exhausted almost every known material healing agency, as a last resort I went to a Christian Science practitioner. At that time I was just able to be out of bed and to get about a very little. I was despondent in a pronounced degree, skeptical of ever again being well, and yet determined to live if it were possible. In this state of mind I went to one who knew the truth, determined to stay by him to the last, because there was nothing else that I could do.

While I had read Christian Science, talked it, and been with those who had attempted to aid me, my attitude toward its teachings was not right. I wanted physical healing that I might again go out and follow the bent of my own mortal will. So actuated, Science and Health was a closed book to me, and in no degree had I been able to grasp its teachings ; but I was led gently, lovingly, and kindly. For several months there was no perceptible improvement. During the following March I was, if possible, worse than I had been, for a long time, and so utterly despondent that only my natural affection for those who had so kindly ministered to me during the years of my sickness, restrained me from a desperate step.
