Among the Churches

Current Notes

New Rochelle, N. Y.—The members and friends of First Church of Christ, Scientist, are expressing gratitude for the removal of all debt on their church property on Locust avenue, the whole mortgage having been satisfied of record during the past month. It is pleasing to the members to note that in the effort made to raise the necessary money to pay off the mortgage, the subscriptions for the purpose amounted to more than enough, and the substantial balance is to be devoted to a fund for a permanent Christian Science edifice in this city. The steady and natural growth of the Christian Science movement in this community evidences a growing interest in this much-discussed religion among New Rochelle's citizens.—New Rochelle Standard.

San Diego, Cal.—Second Church of Christ, Scientist, has been organized, having received its charter from the state, and it will meet for the present in the Masonic Building, Fifth and Ash streets. For a long time the auditorium of First Church has been filled to overflowing, and the move became imperative. This is in keeping with the rapid growth of the Christian Science movement in every civilized land. The increase of adherents on the Pacific coast has been particularly noticeable, while Chicago leads all other cities of the. world with its thirteen churches.—San Dieqo Union.

Pueblo, Col.—The members of First Church of Christ, Scientist, completed the purchase yesterday [Feb. 3] of the northwest corner of Twelfth and Main streets, one of the most desirable sites in the city, on which they plan to erect a church.—Pueblo Chieftain.
