It is with sincere gratitude for the blessings of Christian Science...
It is with sincere gratitude for the blessings of Christian Science that I submit this testimony. I had been in a nervous, wretched condition for many years, as the result of a serious illness and operation. In February, 1912, my family physician advised an immediate operation for an abnormal growth. My husband strongly objected to my being operated on again, and I also dreaded the ordeal. We were then spending the winter at a hotel in San Francisco, where I met a lady who told me she had been healed of the same trouble in Christian Science ten years before, and had since enjoyed good health. She gave me the address of a practitioner, who explained to me something of Christian Science, as I knew nothing about it. Its teaching as to Principle, God, good, appealed to me at once, and I asked for treatment. After a few visits, the severe pains disappeared, also the depressed mental condition, and my friends remarked on my improved appearance. I became intensely interested in the study of this healing religion, and I was indeed happy when, under the guidance of divine Mind and the kindly help of the practitioner, I gained an understanding of the Science of being and was enabled to overcome and prove the nothingness of discordant conditions. A year later I again visited the physician for an examination, and he was greatly surprised to find that the growth had disappeared.
Recently I was obliged to have some dentistry done, and with the help of the faithful practitioner I experienced very little discomfort, though I was in the dentist's chair two hours. The dentist said he had dreaded doing the work, and complimented me on being such a good patient, but I replied that the praise was due to Christian Science.
I thank God daily for directing me into this Science, and I revere the memory of Mrs. Eddy, who by her noble efforts made it possible for suffering humanity to understand and find peace and health through the teachings of our Lord Christ Jesus.—Mrs. F. L. Olmsted, San Mateo, Cal.
