As the past year has advanced I have looked back and felt like expressing my deep gratitude for the good it brought me, more especially for the long-desired German translation of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." During this year I have also experienced Truth's healing power, for through the consciousness of man's oneness with God I have recovered my right of perfect eyesight. The eye trouble dated back to my childhood days, when I was told that it was a case of hereditary weakness, a sort of family legacy. Through the use of material means it became possible for me to wear medium strong glasses, but sorrow, disease, and their supposed concomitants had such a detrimental effect that I became unable to read even with these.
At that time a dear Scientist remarked to me that in God, Truth, there is no weakness, that God is all-power. I immediately began to work along the lines of divine Science, wherein all good is spiritual, and in about four months' time I was able to sew without using glasses, and six weeks later to read. This glorious proof of man's oneness with God meant a great deal to me in the way of understanding Mind's perfection. I would also like to give thanks for the thorough healing of a stomach trouble of thirteen years' standing. Nine months after the healing of another trouble (see Der Herold der Christian Science for March, 1911), I realized one day that I had had no stomach trouble for quite a while, and in a rather doubtful attitude of mind I wondered whether this ill had been healed along with the other. The very same day the old pain manifested itself, but upon my request treatment was taken up by Christian Science practitioner in Stuttgart, and continued for about a fortnight, and since that time, two years ago, I have been completely healed of the trouble and of the fear of it. Praise be to God!
