Having received much help and encouragement from...
Having received much help and encouragement from reading in the Journal and Sentinel the testimonies to be found in their pages, I am inclined to relate one of the many experiences which have resulted from my study and application of the truth taught in Christian Science. About a year ago it became necessary for me to have some dental work done, inasmuch as a large cavity was found in a back molar. Previous to my study of Christian Science, the fear of this work had caused such distress that it seemed wise to have the aid of a practitioner at this time, which aid was given. After a careful examination by the dentist he said, "I fear that the nerve is exposed," to which I responded calmly, "Very well, doctor, continue you work." This was repeated several times, and when the drill was in operation there was no pain, only a slight tenderness whenever it touched the live nerve.
More recently, when further dental work was needed, no practitioner was called upon. My own understanding of an absolute reliance on God, divine Truth, enabled me to undergo without pain work which heretofore had caused much suffering. It was not a question of enduring pain, as some might think when hearing about it, for there was no pain. Words are inadequate to express my thankfulness to God, and my gratitude to our revered Leader, Mrs. Eddy, for all the blessings received through the study of the Bible as interpreted by "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures."
I have had one unusual demonstration. While leaning over a porch railing, looking down toward the lower door, the top tail gave way and I was precipitated, the head denting the dry ground. Though the head and neck were not even lame, there was evidence that the spine had received a double curvature, causing the body to be much bent, and one rib was broken. All of this was, however, made whole through the application of the teachings of Christian Science. Is it any wonder that I feel grateful?
