The teaching of the Bible are practical when understood,...
Fresno (Cal.) Republican
The teaching of the Bible are practical when understood, and the commands of the Master were not for his immediate disciples only, but for all the world to follow and obey, for he said, "What I say unto you I say unto all, Watch." Christian Science, as stated in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, teaches us to understand the sayings of Jesus and how they can be obeyed, and thousands are daily testifying to the fact that they are fulfilled today, in our midst, in the healing of every form of sin, sorrow, and sickness, Therefore, just why the secretary of the State Christian Endeavor Society would place Christian Science in the fourth or lowest class, as stated in the Republican a few days ago, would be difficult to understand. This reminds one of Jesus' words, "Many good works have I showed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?"
Jesus the Christ evidently only recognized two classes, for he said, "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad." Christian Scientists do not go around "asking what Jesus would do," as the gentleman stated, for they know what he did, and that he said, "Follow me;" also, "He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also."
The thousands of joyful Christian Scientists who attend our services are daily testifying both publicly and privately to the spiritual illumination of the Scriptures, and the consequent physical healing which Christian Science has brought to them, teaching them obedience to the commandment to "love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and ... thy neighbor as thyself." Therefore in this day, when proofs of the good that Christian Science is doing are so abundant and easily obtained, any ignorance of this important subject is entirely without excuse.
