A year ago I became very ill, and an operation, which would have been critical and costly, was advised by the physician. Being unwilling to submit to it, I waited for another week, when my condition became so much worse that my husband decided to call in another doctor, and at the same time asked a Christian Scientist whom we knew to be with me at the examination. The practitioner came at once, and asked if instead of calling in another doctor we would not try Christian Science treatment until the end of the week, pointing out the many advantages in so doing. As we dreaded the thought of the hospital, it was agreed that I should try Christian Science, so treatment was begun on Tuesday; but my physical condition changed very little until Sunday, when I seemed to become much worse. I knew that the practitioner was reading at the church on Sunday evening, so I was loath to trouble her; but directly after the service my husband went for her, and she spent the night with me. From the time she arrived my husband and I lost all fear, and before she had been an hour in the house all that had seemed to make an operation necessary had passed away. After that I grew gradually stronger, and was soon doing my work as usual.

I am grateful to God for my restoration to health, and to Mrs. Eddy for her great gift to the world, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," from which the understanding was gained that accomplished my healing.
