I wish to acknowledge publicly what Christian Science...

I wish to acknowledge publicly what Christian Science has done for me and mine. I had been a church-member for twenty years, and my husband was an elder and an active worker in the church, but we could not find a satisfying faith. We read the Bible, but neither rest, peace, nor health came to us, since we were looking for good in material things, where it cannot be found. Finally, Christian Science was brought to me, and I began the study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. At that time I was expecting my three-year-old child to pass away, as it did; and this was a burden I had to carry myself, I thought; but through study of the text-book I came to understand the meaning of Christ Jesus' loving invitation: "Learn of me; ... my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." New hope arose in me, and I soon realized that Christian Science brings us so near to God that all discord of the body is destroyed, and that there is neither yoke nor burden to be borne, except as we allow mortal mind to deceive us.

I want to say that the understanding of Christian Science which I have gained has enabled me to overcome many ills of the flesh, and I am assured that there is no disease which cannot be destroyed if we but live close to God and acknowledge no power apart from the divine Mind. I am the mother of four children, three of whom knew little but sickness and medicine until the age of eight; then Science brought a new sense of life into our home. That was about sixteen years ago, and now we have a four-year-old child who has never known of medicine, and who lives so much in God that sometimes she is a rebuke to me.

If only I could put into words all that Christian Science has done for me—but it cannot be told! I do thank God, and am grateful to dear Mrs. Eddy, who has worked so faithfully to demonstrate to the world that this is the truth, the religion which our Saviour taught and practised. Her teaching has brought me closer to the divine Principle of being, for the love that she taught us will never die; it will live throughout eternity. May I be worthy to be called a child of God.—Mrs. Bettie Johnson, Union City, Tenn.
