I wish to state what Christian Science has done for me

I wish to state what Christian Science has done for me. In December, 1910, I was taken with an attack of stomach trouble and nervousness. I sent for a physician about three days later, who diagnosed the case and prescribed three kinds of medicine. He said that I must not eat certain kinds of food for a long time, and put me on a restricted diet. This physician went to Chicago after he had made two visits, and as I was not improving we called another physician, who prescribed different medicine but advised me to eat meat to get some strength. I did so, but as I seemed to be growing worse I discontinued this treatment, as it caused me so much distress. I was then advised to try other things, but they all had to be discontinued on account of the great suffering they seemed to produce. I again changed my physician, and continued for four weeks, but grew just a little worse each day, so that I at last realized I must look elsewhere for help.

My thoughts turned to Christian Science, although I had never heard or known anything about it except as a church. I telephoned to a Scientist and asked him to come to me, and upon his arrival was advised to procure a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Having done so, I asked for a practitioner, who came and very kindly pointed out some portions which would be specially helpful to read. He gave me three treatments, after which he informed me that he had to go away, but would get me another practitioner. After a few treatments by this lady, I noticed that I was improving quite fast and that fear of food had left me. I was gaining strength, was able to sleep all night, and a feeling came over me that was comforting and beyond expression. I also found I was gaining daily in weight, and I was able to walk six to eight blocks after ten days' treatment. I was able to go to work after about three weeks, and did the usual amount with ease.

I am unable to express in words my gratitude for being led into Christian Science. I am grateful to God; also to Mrs. Eddy, who was the channel through whom this healing truth came to mankind. I also wish to state that I am grateful for the ability to overcome all temptations to dishonesty.—A. R. Schwartzbach, Mitchell, S. Dak.
