I am more grateful for Christian Science than I can find...
I am more grateful for Christian Science than I can find words to express. I came to it as the result of the wonderful healing of a dear friend. I had been a physical wreck for nearly three years, having been a sufferer from a disease of the stomach and bowels in its worst from, and from nervous exhaustion. I had also received a very serious internal injury, and some of the best physicians of this city had told me that a severe operation was necessary before I could ever be well again. I had, however, put it off so long that they were afraid to operate on account of my weakned physical condition, so after trying the different medical schools, also electricity, message, and last of all will-power, I thought there was nothing else for me.
It was after this that I decided to try Christian Science, as when I saw what had been done for my friend I remembered that God is no respecter of persons and that what He had done for her He could do for me. My second thought was that what God could not do, man need not try to do, and in this state of mind I decided to lay all material means aside and take my first treatment. I had been confined to my bed for three weeks and was hardly able to raise my hand, but as I did not want my husband to know what I was going to do, I got up and dressed myself, though with great difficulty, and went to the practitioner. I said nothing to any one about it, but I was beautifully healed of every ailment in that first treatment.
In this connection I also wish to state that during the last week I was in bed we had to call the physician three different times during the night, as I would have such severe sinking-spells from weakness (I had not been able to eat any solid food for nearly eight months). The last time, we called the doctor about three o'clock and he stayed several hours. When he left he remarked to a neighbor that he thought my departure was only a matter of a short time. It was, however, on the following day that I was healed in Christian Science, and I at once threw away a large quantity of expensive medicine. I continued the treatment in Christian Science the rest of the week, to be sure that I was well, as my healing was so wonderful I could hardly realize it was permanent. That was three years ago, and ever since then I have been healthier, happier, stronger than ever before. I also have a greater sense of peace and content.
