In a recent issue there appeared an article entitled "American Loyalty to Judaism," in which it is said, "We sincerely believe that ninety per cent of the so-called Jewish Christian Scientists do not know that Christian Science and Christianity are one and the same, and that by going over to Christian Science they, strictly speaking, abandon the faith of Israel, the faith in the one eternal God who, as declared by the prophet Isaiah, is Israel's only 'Saviour.' " This declaration and many similar ones which have appeared in the public press lead us to believe that there is some misunderstanding with regard to the teaching of Christianity generally, as well as the teaching of Christian Science specifically, and we are inclined to believe that the situation is largely due to the misinterpretation of the Scripture on the part of some Bible students.

Jesus declared, "I am the way, the truth, and the life," but it should be noted that he did not claim to be God, although he declared the inseparability of the Father and himself. Again, he said, "I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God." He referred to himself as the "way," from the simple fact that it was his mission to point out God's way. He was aware that he understood the nature and essence of Deity and man's relation to Him. He had demonstrated the truthfulness of his understanding by unmistakable results. He never at any time taught contrary to "the law and the prophets," but expounded these. He made it his business to teach the hidden things of the Scripture and thereby make the religion of the prophets more practical. He was simply a man so completely dominated by the infinite Spirit, the one God, as to be an infallible expounder of the Mosaic law. He planted himself unreservedly upon the teaching that there is but one God.

Mrs. Eddy has sought out the Science of Truth, the Science of Spirit which governed the man Jesus, and has given to Christianity its new name, Christian Science, and all classes of religionists, including a goodly number of Jews, are proving that there is but one God by actual results in the healing of sin and sickness.
