It is with a very grateful heart that I write of a few of the many benefits and blessings which Christian Science has brought into my life. Having had no sense of health since childhood, and being driven almost to despair by continued sick spells, my extremity surely became "God's opportunity." Nervous exhaustion, heart trouble, severe headaches, and all the ills attendant upon nervous disorders kept repeating themselves until I was finally forced to remain three months in a hospital, eight weeks of that period being spend in unconsciousness, said to result from inflammation of the brain.

Although physicians did all within their knowledge for me, they claimed that my recovery at this time was miraculous. I was, however, in a very weakened condition, and severe attacks of headache became so prevalent that I even said I could not see why my life had been spared. Materia medica relieved these attacks, but they reappeared at short intervals, sometimes of only ten days. Then it was decided my only salvation was in an operation. I determined never to resort to this means, so when the last severe attack occurred, in May, 1910, my husband and I decided to try Christian Science. We called a practitioner, and upon her arrival I was suffering such excruciating pain that it was necessary for me to remain in a darkened room, but in less than two hours after the work was begun I realized the fulness of that blessed promise, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." All pain was gone and I was able to rise and walk down-stairs. After sleeping peacefully all night I arose the next morning with only a feeling of soreness in the back of the head and spine. In fifteen minutes this was entirely overcome through the absent treatment of the practitioner, and I was able to take up my household duties as if no inharmony had existed; whereas in former days I would scarcely recover from the effects of one attack before another would overtake me. By learning to realize that we have an infinite source upon which to draw, for strength to meet our daily needs, I have been able to accomplish more than I was before knowing the benefits to be derived by the application of the truth as taught in Christian Science. For this healing I am extremely grateful, and still more grateful for the spiritual joy and inspiration that came into my life at this time, which can best be expressed by the words in Revelation, "To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth it."
