Christian Science causes us to exclaim with the psalmist, "Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name." In August, 1900, I took my first treatment in Christian Science. I had been a great sufferer all my life and had become a nervous wreck. I was praying that God would in His kindness let me die. At this time some dear friends presented Christian Science, and I felt it was indeed the power of God to heal. I listened to them while they told of so many clear cases of healing, and as I watched them I knew they enjoyed in religion something that I did not understand. In two weeks after my first treatment I was much better, and in a few weeks I was healed of many physical ailments, including organic heart trouble, lung and stomach disease, catarrh, and severe headaches. I had suffered intensely with my eyes and had worn glasses for six years, but after I had treatment in Christian Science for a few weeks I was enabled to leave off glasses, and have never needed them since. My eyes grow stronger every day.

My heart overflows for all this physical healing, and for the spiritual uplift I have not words to express my gratitude. As the stone was rolled away from the sepulcher of material sense, the beautiful sunlight of Christian Science shone in upon my darkened thought and revealed God as Love. Then I was like Saul of Tarsus,—for a short time I was confused; then like Jacob I wrestled until the break of day, until I received that "peace of God, which passeth all understanding." It is being proven to me every day that God directs our steps, and if we trust Him and obey Him our every need will be met. "Underneath are the everlasting arms." I thank God that I was ready and willing to accept this truth which brings us into health and harmony and teaches us how to live and love. Since then my greatest joy has been that through my understanding I have been able to help others to be healed and to live better lives.
